One thing I love about being a beauty expert is that I am constantly learning about different brands–especially when I thought I knew most everything about a particular brand. Case in point: Clarins. This classic French brand has been around for sixty years and I thought I was well-versed on it until tonight. I attended their beauty party at Saks Fifth Avenue, in conjunction with W Magazine, and in talking with reps from the brand, got a great education on all things Clarins. For instance, I learned the proper way to apply their award-winning Double Serum to achieve maximum effect (note: it's all in the way you apply pressure to your face, directing the pressure down and back to get the blood flowing), and learned that all their products–including makeup–are plant-based. (Who says plant-based is just for the kitchen?)
In addition to gaining better insight into the history of the brand, it was great fun to try the various products and learn different tips and tricks that make Clarins unique. But most importantly, the energy was infectious as the passion of the brand was crystal clear when talking with seasoned employees whose own great skin was a testament to the effectiveness of the brand.
